Kit Connor of the Netflix series Heartstopper has signed on to star in the mystery horror film One of Us, filming soon in Ireland
Kit Connor, who earned a lot of fans and won the Outstanding Lead Performance award at the inaugural Children’s and Family Emmys for his performances as Nick Nelson in season 1 of the Netflix seriesHeartstopper, has now signed on to lead the cast of the mystery horror film One of Us, Deadline reports. The feature debut of writer/director Stefan van de Graaff, One of Us is scheduled to begin filming in Belfast, Northern Ireland later this month.
Described as an “allegorical film”, One of Us will show viewers what happens when members of a family begin dying one by one at a funeral, while Youngest (Connor) searches for the stranger in their midst.
Connor is being joined in the cast by Callum Woodhouse (The Durrells), Charlotte Hope (The Spanish Princess), Siobhan Fallon-Hogan (Rushed), and Ian Beattie (Game of Thrones).
Coming our way from the Jung School and Northern Ireland Screen, One of Us is being produced by Raquel Baldwin, with Robert Machoian co-producing and van de Graff serving as executive producer. Bianca Cline, the Marcel the Shell With Shoes On cinematographer who was recently hired to fill in for the late Halyna Hutchins on the troubled (that’s an understatement) Western production Rust when it resumes filming, is the cinematographer on this project as well.
In addition to Heartstopper, Connor’s credits include RocketmanandHis Dark Materials. And yes, he will be reprising the role of Nick Nelson in Heartstopper season 2.
How does One of Us sound to you, and what do you think of Kit Connor leading the cast? Let us know by leaving a comment below. I really liked Connor’s performance in Heartstopper, so I’m glad to hear he’s going to be starring in a film that’s part of my favorite genre, horror.
It will be interesting to learn more about the story of One of Us, because I can’t hear that phrase without immediately thinking of the 1932 film Freaks (and the Freaks-inspired song by The Ramones, “Pinhead”). I doubt this movie has anything to do with Freaks or The Ramones, but we’ll share updates on One of Us as we hear more about it.
